Probation Officer Exam Postponed

The New York City Department of Administrative Services (DCAS) has advised that the July 10, 2020 civil service examination for Probation Officer is being postponed due to COVID-19.  As of now, DCAS have not rescheduled any exams and are not administering any exams.   DCAS is awaiting offices reopening for business and will then begin to reschedule exams after that has occurred.  Additionally, the civil service Promotion examination for Supervising Probation Officer will be a priority for rescheduling once DCAS open and then later exams will follow. Lastly, DCAS will provide more information as the City reopens and are able to ensure the safety and health of their employees and customers.  

Celebrating Juneteenth

Nothing can stop us or hold us down. On Friday June 19, 2020, President Dalvanie Powell and Jennifer Rogers Secretary was out in the community celebrating Juneteenth with the Speaker Carl Hastings, Bronx Borough President Rubin Diaz, NY State Senator Jamaal Bailey , Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark and City Councilman Andy King Of the Bronx .

A SECOND ATTEMPT TO DECERTIFY UPOA AS A UNION

As you probably know, the same unsuccessful group of malcontents that previously attempted to decertify the UPOA as your union is “taking another crack” at it. As the basis for their petition is meritless and only seeks to sow discord among our ranks, the UPOA once again calls on you to stand in solidarity with it. These individuals who seek decertification claim to have momentum, yet there is no wind in their sails. Their previous attempt–which would have left you with no representation because there was no corollary petition to have another organization represent you–failed to meet the 30% threshold and was dismissed.
