Breaking News - Vaccination Opportunities
DOP and UPOA are excited to share this important time-sensitive opportunity regarding the COVID-19 Vaccination for eligible Department of Probation employees and their vaccine-eligible family members. We hope this will lead to more opportunities and locations for the vaccine to be taken across the city.
Working in partnership with the NYC Vaccine Command Center, DOP has been provided a pre-reserved block of COVID-19 vaccine appointment slots from Wednesday, February 17 through Tuesday, February 23.
At this time, we are reserving vaccination appointments at the City Employee Vaccination site located at Susan E. Wagner High School, 1200 Manor Road, Staten Island for:
Probation Officer Title Series staff
DOP employees age 65 and over
DOP employees with underlying health conditions that will become eligible for vaccination as of February 15
For list of eligible underlying health conditions, visit: COVID-19: Vaccine Eligibility - NYC Health
Each eligible employee may also bring vaccine-eligible family members to their appointment to be vaccinated at the same time
(all vaccine-eligible family members residing in the household or one vaccine-eligible family member not residing in the household will be accommodated).
Family members include a child, sibling, spouse, domestic partner, parent, step or foster parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, and all other relatives residing in the household. The family member must be eligible to receive the vaccine based on NYS guidelines and live in New York City (or if eligible by virtue of occupation, and not living in NYC, must work in NYC).
Eligibility for the vaccine includes those 65 and over, specified occupations (including restaurant workers, taxi drivers, grocery store workers, teachers, transit employees, healthcare staff, etc.), and those with certain underlying health conditions. For a full list of eligibility, visit: COVID-19: Vaccine Eligibility - NYC Health.
To reserve a vaccine appointment, please complete an on-line request: https://bit.ly/DOPVAX.(This link will remain active until Friday, February 12 at 5:00 p.m.; however, you are encouraged to request an appointment as soon as possible because we are expecting heavy-demand for appointments and may not be able to accommodate all requests within this block.)
When you get vaccinated, you are helping to protect yourself and your family, friends, and your coworkers. You are also helping to make your community safer. In clinical studies, the vaccines were more than 94 percent effective at protecting participants from COVID-19. They were also shown to be safe and that you cannot get COVID-19 from them.
Please also be reminded, as part of the effort to encourage and facilitate the expeditious vaccination of City employees, those who receive the vaccination will be provided:
Up to two hours of excused leave during work hours for travel (to and from) administration of the vaccine.
Three hours of comp time (upon successfully completing the vaccines).
If you have questions about COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, scheduling an appointment, or the associated leave policy, please contact DOP Human Resources (zemelendez@probation.nyc.gov).
